Game Changer Vehicle

The Sylvester Game Changer Vehicle is an air-conditioned motorhome vehicle that is equipped with two private rooms for consultation and cancer screening, and a multimedia area for education about cancer-related topics. Patients visiting the vehicle can receive:

Cervical self-sampling for HPV, the principal cause of cervical cancer
Screening for Hepatitis C, associated with liver cancer
Fecal Immunochemical Testing (FIT) for colorectal cancer prevention and early detection
HIV testing
In-person counseling and/or referrals to local smoking cessation programs, dental care, and other resources outside the scope of the vehicle.
Services provided in three languages: English, Spanish and Creole.

Sylvester launched its Game Changer vehicle to bring cancer screenings and health information to underserved communities in South Florida. Early cancer detection is crucial to improving outcomes for patients; however, barriers such as transportation issues, long wait times, complex administrative processes, and high costs can prevent patients from getting necessary care on a regular basis. The Sylvester Game Changer Vehicle will help reach populations most at risk by mitigating these common barriers.

Guided by the input of our Community Advisory Committee, our team engages in a range of community activities, including cancer screenings, health fairs, culturally-tailored cancer education and awareness programs, and clinical trial enrollment and recruitment.
